We are uncompromising in our commitment to using only natural ingredients. This means our products are different to mainstream skincare, because we have formulated them so that we can avoid potentially harmful additives. We have not followed the traditional route of creating a moisturising cream by mixing oils with water or hydrosol, then adding preservative, emulsifiers, thickeners and a plethora of other synthetic ingredients.
Our products contain no water, which means our moisturisers are very concentrated - up to 5 times more concentrated than a standard lotion, which may contain up to 85% water. Likewise, our face cleanser is presented as a powder, to which you add water at the time of use, thus keeping the product fresh, activating many of the beneficial ingredients at the time of application.
By leaving out the water, we are able to leave out preservatives, which are added to standard skin care to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. These microorganisms are unable to grow in the absence of water. Consider olive oil – it does not need preserving or refrigeration because it is a pure oil, and bacteria and fungus will not grow in it. Likewise, since our products contain no water, we do not need to add potentially harmful preservatives, and we can also leave out other additives that are required when oil and water are mixed together – emulsifiers, thickeners and stabilisers for example. Everything we put in our skin care is unadulterated plant oils and butters.
This means our moisturisers – oils and creams – are at least twice as concentrated, and up to 5 times the concentration of a standard moisturiser. They will last a lot longer than the same volume of a standard moisturiser – two to five times longer!
All our products are formulated in this way, so they need to be applied differently to conventional products. However, they are very simple and straightforward to use.
